How to set replica layer name?

Hello. When I check out data from a feature class in an SDE, say USERNAME.featclass, the replica feature class name is featclass. When I add that replica to a map, it shows up with the layer name USERNAME.featclass. I want it to appear as simply featclass, so I can have the parent in the map also with the full name and be able to easily distinguish them. I can rename it manually in the properties, but I don't want to have to do this every time.

The funny thing is, this behavior occurs for one of my SDE feature classes but not another. I can't seem to get it the desired behavior to happen for both, no matter what I do with aliases in ArcCatalog.

Can anyone help me out?
